From
The Sea Canoeist, Vol 1 1979
1979 Tasmanian Sea Canoeing Club.
We can look back on the past year with a sense of achievement.
The club started with a strong nucleus of dedicated sea paddlers and they
have been active right through the year, in all parts of the state. Not
only has the time been spent on water, but many hours have gone into thought,
design, and redesign of a number of ideas, and continual meetings have
seen an exchange of ideas. We are indeed fortunate in having a very qualified
canoe designer in our midst and the performances of Adrian Dean’s Greenlander
is self evident. We have endeavoured to publicise the sport with reports
to canoe magazines, and the press, and this has led to requests from various
bodies for guest speakers from our club, most of this load falling upon
Tony Gaiswinkler’s capable shoulders. This publicity has also led to a
growing number of sea kayaks being built and newcomers joining our ranks.
Although one of the smallest clubs in the state we are also one of the
most active, on the water and at TCA level.
