Leaving Parachilna we headed up to the town of Blinman, and got the key for a tour of the old copper mine. Then it was down to Wilpena Pound where we booked into the luxury resort for the night. We walked into the pound, then the next day climbed St Mary Peak (nearly killed me) - then drove to Mambray Creek to camp overnight in the National Park. Elli and I quite often use this campsite on our travels to or from the Northern Territory or West Australia - nice quiet place.
This is hardly the outback any more, but I am going to finish the trip to Tasmania.
From Mambray Creek it was down to Morgan to camp on the banks of the Murray River (via Gladstone where we had been considering staying in the old gaol). Next day it was across to Mildura where we had a couple of nights of luxury again (Mitchell wanted to use the 'Wavemaking' swimming pool), then on to Swan Hill for the night, and the Pioneer Village. A day later we were in even more luxurious accomodation in Echuca where Elli and Mitchell went for a cruise on a paddle steamer.
