| From 'The Sea Canoeist', Vol 3. 1980.
PRESENT; Cecily Butorac, Peter Hall, Tony Gaiswinkler, Steve Whelan, Hans Svensen, Ron Rainbow.
Peter Hall declared the meeting open at 8:15 p.m. It was noted that since Laurie Ford had resigned, Ron Rainbow had been co-opted to act as Secretary until the next Annual General Meeting. (See May 14th News Letter). Both incoming and outgoing correspondence was read. The appointment was then ratified. It was noted that Kerry Behrens had become a financial member of the Club. Discussion followed concerning the AGM. It was decided that, since Peter Hall will be in Melbourne at the time of the next meeting, (September 11th) the AGM would be held at Tony Gaiswinkler’s residence on Friday night 17.10.1980 at 8.00 p.m., the meeting to be in the form of a party. Peter Hall suggested that Laurie Ford be approached to write the Annual report. The minutes of the previous meeting (13.3.1980) were read and confirmed subject to the inclusion of Peter Hall’s name on the list of those present. Both incoming and outgoing correspondence were tabled and discussed. Tony Gaiswinkler commented that he had not yet ordered copies of “Obscured by Waves”, but will be doing so in the near future. Peter Hall stated that although both Brewster and Bloomfield were in Tasmania at the Sports Medicine Conference, neither had made any effort to contact him. However, Brewster had visited Adrian Dean to purchase some materials. Peter also stated that Brewster had recently been appointed Victorian Delegate to the A.C.F. Sea Touring Committee. The report on the T.C.A. meeting at Campbell Town was tabled by Peter Hall; Cecily Butorac, Laurie Ford, and Tony Gaiswinkler represented the Tasmanian Sea Canoeing Club. It was noted that there was general enthusiasm for joint club trips in the future. Peter reported on the new office bearers and commented especially on the enthusiasm of Peter Bauer, the newly elected State Touring Convenor. Cecily Butorac was appointed to the Chair on Sea Canoeing. The T.C.A. would be subsidising Sub-Committee members to go to the A.C.F. Annual Meeting in Melbourne on the 25th-26th of October. This means that Cecily would be our official representative. Members from this club attending would therefore be Cecily, Laurie Ford, Peter Hall and Adrian Dean. It was decided that Peter Hall write to Roy Farrance informing him that the above people would be at the meeting and available as sea instructors to do some examining. Following a discussion on who were eligible to go on T. S. C. C. trips, it was decided the eligibility be left up to the trip leader. Peter Hall commented that the proposed Cairns. Aust. Sea. Canoeing Symposium was in fact a non event. It was noted that the meeting authorized payment of subscription to the T.C.A. - $25.00 plus $2.00/member. It was decided that if members belonged to two clubs, e.g. T.S.C.C. and D.C.C, they should state which club they primarily belonged to for the purpose of the $2.00 levy and that this $2.00 levy be subtracted from the membership subscription of the club not stated. The Secretary was requested to discuss the possibility of a reciprocal arrangement with the D.C.C, Laurie Ford’s request via Secretary for consideration for first choice of trip reports, planned at our meetings, was noted. Cecily said she had already spoken with Laurie about this. There appeared to be general agreement. It was decided that petty cash be allocated to the Secretary for postage. Tony Gaiswinkler commented that he was running two savings accounts and would be cancelling the one with the lower interest rate – (C.B.C.). The amount of $11.39 from this account would be transferred to the Secretary. A discussion on the two way radio arose regarding shareholders, ownership and payment of fees (e.g. license etc). It was stated that since the radio was owned by a group of T.S.C.C. members the club had no claim on it. It was decided that the club should look after the radio on their behalf and pay any future costs, since the radio was purchased in the club’s name. Peter Hall suggested that the Secretary contact Laurie Ford to see what ideas he had on the subject. TREASURER’S REPORT: (A. Gaiswinkler)
The Club Programme was discussed and it was decided that this would be organized by the Secretary and Tony Gaiswinkler. Meeting closed at 9:30 p.m. |
